We dance
- To have fun
- To keep our minds active
- To keep our bodies moving
Come to a dance to see what we are about. All you need is a comfortable pair of shoes (leather or suede bottoms are best). You do not need a fancy gown or tuxedo. And if you just want to come watch, that’s OK too.
Founded in 2017
The Ballroom Dance Preservation Society (BDPS) was formed in May of 2017 with a mission to preserve Ballroom Dancing for future generations through education and events while advocating for the many physical, mental and social benefits that ballroom dancing can bring. We believe that everyone can gain from the increased sense of purpose and positive outlook on life that dancing can bring. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization governed by a Board of Directors. The Ballroom Dance Preservation Society is an active member of the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.
ABOUT BDPS AND DANCING
Come to a dance to see what we are about. All you need is a comfortable pair of shoes (leather or suede bottoms are best). You do not need a fancy gown or tuxedo. And if you just want to come watch, that’s OK too.
If you don’t know how to dance or you want to brush up on your skills, we can connect you with instructors.
Membership is $50 a year and includes a free admission to the July dance, and discounted entrance fee to each dance. Our usual dances without a meal are $10 for members and $14 for non-members. We have about 150 members. You do NOT have to be a member to attend our events.
The membership fee helps us cover the general operation expenses of BDPS. The fee for each dance covers the cost of the hall rental and other miscellaneous items related to each dance.
